Look what was delivered today!!
oh my. Are you gonna have the nibs modified?
No. I have an M400 medium stub nib and an M600 broad stub nib. Both nibs are interchangeable with M 200, 400 and 600 Pelikan pens. For the most part my nibs are medium with a couple of fines including a Pelikan 1956 400 NN that I purchased today.
Is the MB a Le Grand or regular size?
Le Grand is the large rollerball not fountain pen. I recently bought my wife the standard size rollerball. It has many more choices in refill colors than the LeGrande which is the size of my 149. The smaller fountain pen is 146.
I could be wrong but I thought they used the LeGrand distinction for the FP as well. You are correct about the model numbers but they do the same thing with the Rollerballs. The Regular is the the Meisterstück 163 and the Le Grand is the Meisterstück 162, e.g. a Montblanc 162P is a Platinum Trim Meisterstück Rollerball LeGrand.
Reading posts in Fountain Pen Network MB forums, several say that there are other pens similar to a 146, but none like a 149. Have not inked mine yet. I can not imagine how its going to be better than my Mottishaw tuned M805 Stressman.
New M805 Ocean Swirl flew in yesterday.
Very interesting new pens. 1999 Mont Blanc 146 75th anniversery and a 1930s mint Pelikan 100
These are my "other" (ie. non-pelican) pens. Mont Blanc 149, Mont Blanc 146 SE, Sailor Progear II Relo, Bexley , Reform and a Noodlers demonstrator.
Not a hobby for me, but I use a fountain pen everyday at work. Actually time to buy some new ink bottles. Cheapest fountain pen I bought became my favorite.
A friend gave a Pilot Prera fountain pen yesterday. Have not had a fountain pen perhaps since 1970's. It writes beautifully right out of the box and the nib is not broken in yet. The only sad part other than signatures and short messages in greeting cards virtually nothing is handwritten anymore.
There are lots of people that collect and use fountain pens. There are at least three forums where they hang out. I use a fountain pen at work taking notes for my hearings. Its a very addicting hobby and it ain't cheap. I write mine off as office supplies. Its a very enjoyable tax deduction.
